Committed to giving back and helping those in need, DDA Forensics is helping property owners in Florida that were affected by Hurricane Idalia. Packing maximum sustained winds of 125 miles per hour and slamming into the coast as a Category 3 hurricane, the storm brought severe rain, wind, storm surge, and massive destruction to residential and commercial properties, devastating lives and homes along the way.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Hurricane Research Division, Hurricane Idalia was the most intense hurricane to landfall in the Florida Panhandle, according to NOAA’s 167-year best-track hurricane database.
Our General Contractor, Tim Cooprider, went up to Terry County with a group of volunteers to do pro bono hurricane clean-up.
“This is our way to pay it forward, knowing that each household has a small amount of relief during this troubled time. When the owners were made aware that we were volunteers and we were offering our help, they sobbed. We were told that this was above and beyond anything they ever imagined. Each family we helped had a smile on their face, offered us all a hug, and waved goodbye as we left. We were instrumental in turning a disaster into an opportunity to meet new people, hear their story, and enjoy their company as we helped bring a bit of normalcy back to their life,” says Tim Cooprider, General Contractor, DDA Forensics.
The DDA Forensics team also held a blood donation contest. Staff members donated blood and urged their family and friends to do the same. Hurricane preparedness includes keeping those reserves high at local blood banks.
“Hurricanes and tropical systems often disrupt blood collections for several days. The most critical time for blood donations is prior to any storm or hurricane in order to sustain the blood supply during and immediately after the event”, said Susan Forbes, OneBlood’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations.
