As part of our ongoing commitment to education, our Director of Business Development, Jamey Bennett, presented “Subrogation Against Acts of God” at The Defense Collaborative Fall Speed Learn event on October 29 in Rosewell, Georgia. The Defense Collaborative is an education provider for the risk and claims industry with a speed-dating concept.

Bennett’s presentation, co-presented with industry expert J. Abraham Hanze, General Adjuster at Sedgwick, provided an in-depth look at real-life claim scenarios where subrogation potential exists in claims related to natural events traditionally deemed “Acts of God.” During the session, attendees engaged in live case study reviews and an interactive Q&A session, gaining actionable insights into recognizing subrogation opportunities in complex claim situations.

“Insurance is one of the most valuable tools undergirding our society, and after 16 years, I’m more jazzed than ever to be in this space. Teaching is in my blood. I’m thrilled to have had another chance to give some serious pro tips to other professionals in the insurance industry. I may have stumbled my way into this industry, but my goal is to make this space better, just a little bit, every day,” says Bennett.

The event began with registration at 10:30 a.m., followed by a panel discussion and lunch at 11 a.m. Throughout the day, attendees participated in speed-learning rounds, rotating through various tables where experts remained stationed to lead engaging, small-group discussions. Topics included artificial intelligence, inflation, liability claims, and technology in insurance. The event ended with a happy hour and appetizers. Attendees were engaged while earning continuing education credits and making valuable connections with industry professionals.
