DDA Forensics Managing Partner Jonathon Diego Presents at NACA Flood & Hurricane Workshop

ORLANDO — DDA Forensics Managing Partner Jonathon Diego recently presented “Xactimate: Exposure Is in the Details” at the National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters (NACA) Flood & Hurricane Workshop, held July 13–14.

Diego examined the field adjuster’s role in reaching an equitable indemnity payment while minimizing exposure. Attendees learned how the actions, or inactions, of claims personnel can create risk, shape the course of a claim, and increase the potential for litigation.

Diego also explored how overlooked property details can significantly affect the scope, accuracy, and defensibility of an Xactimate estimate. Attendees gained practical guidance for identifying structural characteristics, materials, configurations and site conditions that may influence repair requirements, material quantities, labor, access and overall project complexity.

“Sharing technical knowledge helps promote better documentation, more informed decision-making and stronger outcomes throughout the claims process. Accurate estimating requires more than identifying visible damage and entering line items. The details of the property, and how those details influence the work required, must be properly documented and reflected in the estimate. Overlooking them can result in an incomplete scope and an inaccurate assessment of the loss,” said Diego.

A recognized industry educator, Diego regularly presents at conferences and professional events nationwide on Xactimate, estimating accuracy, construction practices, claims exposure and emerging property insurance trends. His most recent speaking engagements include Verisk Elevate, Gen Re’s invitation-only Property & Casualty Claims Seminar, the PLRB Claims Conference & Insurance Services Expo, and the Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee Conference. An Associate in Claims (AIC), Xactimate Certified Trainer, Xactimate Pricing Consultant and Level 3 Mastery user, Diego is also a certified general contractor, certified roofing contractor and licensed multi-state adjuster. Drawing on nearly two decades of claims-handling and hands-on construction experience, he provides practical insights into complex property losses, catastrophe response and the development of accurate, defensible claim files. Designed specifically for claims adjusters, the 1.5-day NACA Flood & Hurricane Workshop brought together catastrophe adjusters, engineers, attorneys and other insurance professionals for practical education on flood investigations, hurricane and wind claims, property damage, structural failures, catastrophe response and ethics.
