Accomplished Engineer Brings Extensive Expertise in Forensic Investigations
MIAMI — DDA Forensics continues to expand its engineering department with the addition of Dr. Houssam Al Sayegh, Ph.D., P.E., a Civil & Forensic Engineer specializing in the forensic investigation of structural damages, product failures, and engineering incidents.
Dr. Al Sayegh brings a unique combination of academic research, engineering consulting, and forensic investigation experience to the team at DDA Forensics. He specializes in evaluating structural performance under extreme wind events, investigating building failures, and applying engineering science to determine the root cause of complex structural damage.
His background includes extensive research in wind engineering, building resilience, and structural behavior during hurricanes and other severe weather events.
“We’re committed to providing our clients with engineering expertise backed by science and supported by technical excellence. Houssam’s background in wind engineering research, structural investigations, and building performance adds another level of expertise to our forensic engineering department. We’re excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to the value he’ll bring to our clients,” said Jonathon Deigo, Managing Partner, DDA Forensics.
At DDA Forensics, Al Sayegh will perform forensic investigations involving structural failures, hurricane and wind damage, construction defects, building envelope performance, property condition assessments, and engineering evaluations for insurance carriers, attorneys, commercial property owners, and other clients requiring objective, science-based engineering reports.
His addition reflects DDA Forensics’ continued investment in highly specialized engineering talent as the company expands its multidisciplinary team throughout the Southeast and Texas. By combining advanced technical knowledge with practical forensic investigation, DDA continues to provide clients with clear, concise, and conclusive findings supported by data, engineering principles, and thorough investigation.
“Forensic engineering is about more than identifying what failed, it’s about understanding why it happened. I’m excited to join a team that shares my commitment to objective investigations, technical excellence, and delivering engineering conclusions clients can trust,” said Al Sayegh.
Al Sayegh holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Wind Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida International University. Prior to joining DDA, he served as a Research Specialist at the National Science Foundation-funded NHERI Wall of Wind (WOW) Experimental Facility, where he contributed to large-scale testing designed to improve the performance of buildings subjected to hurricane-force winds. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Florida International University, where he teaches advanced structural design courses.
In addition to his research and teaching experience, Al Sayegh has participated in post-disaster field investigations through the Structural Extreme Events Reconnaissance (StEER) Network, evaluating structural performance following major natural disasters. His research has also contributed to advancements in the wind performance of rooftop photovoltaic systems and other building components, with findings published in leading engineering journals.
